Health minister Katya Ivkova has ordered a check into all the circumstances of the death of a 10-year-old boy at Pirogov hospital, the ministry press office said. Prosecutors are also investigating.

The boy fell from a tractor. His father carried him into the emergency medical care branch in Etropole at 12:30pm on 24 October. The ministry said the boy was conscious and responsive, and complained of pain in his back and stomach.

Doctors at the Etropole branch examined him, a specialist saw him, and he was given emergency treatment. His condition then stabilised.

An ambulance took him to Pirogov at 12:53pm, and his condition was stable. His mother and the branch's duty doctor went with him. They reached the hospital at 1:55pm, where the boy was registered and sent to the orthopaedics and trauma room.

Earlier today, Pirogov said doctors found severe injuries that no one could survive. It said they used every life-saving measure that modern medicine allows.
