Traffic on the Danube Bridge at Ruse, on the Ruse–Giurgiu crossing, will be restricted for a time while workers install drainage equipment, the Border Police Directorate said.
The work will be done in two stages. Part of the right lane will be closed first, from 9:00 on 19 October to 17:00 on 22 October. Then part of the left lane will be closed, from 9:00 on 26 October to 17:00 on 29 October. No work will take place on the bridge on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Vehicles will use the open lane in both directions, with a 20-minute interval for each direction. Border officials in Romania have been told about the change.
The Oryahovo–Bechet and Svishtov–Zimnicea ferry lines have stopped running because the Danube is low. Traffic is normal at all other Romanian crossings.
Traffic is very heavy for lorries leaving Bulgaria for Turkey through the Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo checkpoints.
Only cars and minibuses weighing up to 3.5 tonnes can cross into Greece at Rudozem, Zlatograd, Makaza and Ivaylovgrad. Buses and lorries, as well as cars, can use Kulata, Ilinden and Kapitan Petko Voivoda. Traffic at the Greek crossings is normal, as it is on the borders with Serbia and North Macedonia.
