Bulgaria's 112 emergency service, part of the Interior Ministry, logged 30,137 valid calls to the European emergency number 112 last week. That is 3.2% more than in the same week of 2025.

Callers were sent on to ambulance centres in 13,408 cases, nearly half of the total. Local councils received 5,482 for action.

By type, 6,867 calls were about crimes against people, 1,998 about road crashes, 903 about fires and 909 about crimes against property. Another 278 were about lost or stranded people, 267 about breakdowns and faults, 19 about risky driving and chases, and 18 about disasters. Five calls involved illegal migrants or refugees, four involved household and industrial incidents, and three involved hazardous substances.

The week before, from 7am on 16 October to 7am on 23 October, there were 31,328 calls, BTA news agency recalled.

There were seven air missions. The directorate said seriously ill patients were able to get specialist treatment in time.

The figures are based on what callers report, so one incident can lead to two or more calls, the directorate said.
