Yotova to greet the audience at concert marking 170 years of Bulgaria's chitalishte movement

A closing concert marking 170 years of chitalishte work in Bulgaria starts at 6 p.m. at the Lumiere cinema in the National Palace of Culture. President Iliyana Yotova will greet guests and performers, the president's press office said.

The concert also marks 115 years since the Union of Bulgarian Chitalishtes was founded.

The president is patron of the events marking the 170th anniversary. In June, tied to the same milestone, a national academic conference was held titled "170 Years of Chitalishte Work – the Awakening of a Nation. The Revolutionary Cause and the National Chitalishtes. Chitalishtes and Libraries as Guardians of Memory and Knowledge."
