Sofia has launched the „MaGaTa fest“ initiative, providing citizens with direct support for clearing out basements, garages, and attics. The selection of the first locations is strategic – according to Deputy Mayor for Ecology Eng. Nikolay Nedelkov, residents in Zone 3 were among those most affected during the transition period in waste management. "It is important for us to provide them with direct support for household clearing," he emphasized.

The Sofia Municipality (SM) announced that the project will be implemented at three separate locations via temporary mobile sites. At these sites, citizens will be able to drop off various types of waste, including bulky items such as old furniture and mattresses, as well as paper, metal, and plastic packaging. The collection will also cover obsolete electrical and electronic equipment, car tires, textiles and footwear, as well as batteries and accumulators.

The list of accepted materials also includes hazardous household waste, such as old medicines, paints, and mercury thermometers. For those looking to reduce the amount of organic waste in their own homes, the „Gorata.bg“ Association will donate a total of 1000 free household composters, according to information from the SM.
