Haskovo's three municipal orchestras – the Folk, Wind and Chamber orchestras – will keep giving educational concerts in schools in the 2026–2027 school year, Haskovo council said.

The concerts run to a schedule agreed in advance, and only when a school asks for one. Each lasts 40 minutes and follows the music curriculum for the class it is played for.

The Folk Orchestra will play first. Its musicians show Bulgarian folk instruments live and perform songs and dances from all folklore regions. The children see the instruments up close and learn how they sound, how they differ and what traditions lie behind them.

The Chamber Orchestra presents the string instruments and explains what an orchestra is and how it sounds when the musicians play together. Its programme includes popular classical music and works by Bulgarian and foreign composers.

The Wind Orchestra shows the range of wind instruments. Pupils learn to recognise them by sound and to tell apart the genres in which they are used.

The organisers say the aim is for children to get to know different instruments, composers and genres. This, they say, will bring them closer to the arts, help them develop their creative talents and make them want to learn to play an instrument.
