The 51st Professor Nedyalka Simeonova Music Days run in Haskovo from 16 to 18 October, with free entry to all three concerts, Haskovo municipality said. All events take place at the renovated Zarya-1858 chitalishte. Symphonietta Vratsa's 3D hologram concert show will be staged in Haskovo for the first time.
This story follows our earlier report on the Music Days in Haskovo, in which we gave the dates after the organisers' press conference and said entry is free.
Haskovo municipality and maestro Tsanislav Petkov, conductor of the Haskovo Chamber Orchestra, organise the event. The concerts start at 7pm. The programme also includes the 2026 Professor Nedyalka Simeonova International Violin Competition for young performers, who are split into four groups.
On Friday, 16 October, the competition opens at 12:30pm in the main hall, and the first round for groups III and IV starts at 2pm. That evening, Symphonietta Vratsa and the Haskovo Chamber Orchestra will open the Music Days with a joint concert. Tsanislav Petkov will conduct, with violinist Angelina Abadzhieva as soloist. They will play Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26, and Richard Strauss's "Der Rosenkavalier" suite.
On Saturday, 17 October, the second round for groups III and IV is at 10am, and groups I and II compete at 1:30pm. In the evening, the Sofia Soloists Chamber Ensemble plays under conductor Lubomir Denev Jr, with cellist Louisa Stefanova as soloist. The programme is Warlock's "Capriol" suite, Haydn's Cello Concerto in C major and Stravinsky's Concerto in D for string orchestra.
On Sunday, 18 October, the third round for group IV is at 10am, and the awards ceremony and gala concert of the competition's laureates are at 2pm. The evening brings the hologram concert show, conducted by Hristo Pavlov, with pianists Martina Tabakova and Georgi Cherkin as soloists. The audience will hear Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms, Slavonic Dances by Antonín Dvořák, "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy and "The Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saëns.
