The 51st Haskovo Music Days will run from 16 to 18 October, organisers said at a press conference. All three concerts are at the Zarya chitalishte (community cultural centre) and start at 7pm. Entry is free.
Haskovo council and the Chamber Orchestra, led by conductor Tsanislav Petkov, organise the event. Organisers say leading classical music groups will play over the three days. The "Prof. Nedyalka Simeonova" competition for young violinists is also part of the programme.
Haskovo deputy mayor Maria Valcheva said the draw for the order of performance will take place on 16 October at the Zarya chitalishte. The competition has 11 young violinists in four age groups. The youngest, from Plovdiv, is 10 years old.
Prof. Ginka Tichkova chairs the jury. Its other members are Prof. Dr Galina Koycheva-Mircheva, Dr Stimen Peev, Prof. Plamen Dzhurov and violinist Angelina Abadzhieva.
Maestro Tsanislav Petkov presented the music programme. On the first evening, the Haskovo Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonietta Vratsa will play Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 and the "Der Rosenkavalier" suite by Richard Strauss, with Angelina Abadzhieva as soloist.
On the second evening, the Sofia Soloists, conducted by Omo Denev, will play works by Warlock, Haydn and Stravinsky.
The final concert, on Sunday, is a 3D hologram show by Sinfonietta Vratsa, conducted by Hristo Pavlov. The soloists are pianists Martina Tabakova and Georgi Cherkin. The programme includes works by Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Dvořák and Brahms. Live playing is combined with visual effects and 3D holograms. The National Culture Fund backs the show.
Petkov says free entry lets more people get to know classical music, and he called on the public to come to the concerts.
The winner in the oldest age group receives a special statuette, which has been awarded for ten years now. Sculptor Zlatan Stoilov made it. He also created the "Violinist" sculpture in front of the Zarya chitalishte.
