Haskovo Regional Court has upheld the pre-trial detention of 33-year-old T.S.K., who is charged with murder with particular cruelty in the village of Gorski Izvor, the court said. It made the ruling at a preliminary hearing today, 5 November.

The case stems from an indictment by the Haskovo Regional Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutors say the defendant deliberately killed K.P.K., a former resident of Dimitrovgrad, with particular cruelty on 15 March 2025 in Gorski Izvor, in Dimitrovgrad municipality. The charge falls under Article 116(1), item b, third alternative, read with Article 115 of the Criminal Code.

The court heard both sides and admitted two private prosecutors: the victim's parent, D.D.N., and his sister, G.T.V.

The case will go to trial under the general procedure, with the first hearing on 11 December 2026 at 10am. The court found no grounds for a special procedure under chapters 27, 28 and 29 of the Criminal Procedure Code, so it will gather evidence and hear witnesses and experts.

In ruling on the issues under Article 248 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the court reviewed the material from the pre-trial investigation. It found no reason to end or suspend the proceedings, and no serious procedural violations that would require sending the case back to prosecutors.
