Haskovo Regional Court has opened the trial of a 33-year-old man charged with murdering his sister's boyfriend in the village of Gorski Izvor, in Dimitrovgrad municipality. The defendant stays in custody. The case is being heard under the general procedure, and the next hearing is on 11 December.

The court ordered him held in custody on 19 March, four days after the 29-year-old man died.

Prosecutors say the killing happened on 15 March last year during a domestic row and was carried out with particular cruelty. They say the victim was stabbed several times in the stomach, neck and heart area.

The court agreed to hear new evidence. The victim's mother and sister were admitted as civil claimants.
