The Haskovo regional election commission has drawn up a step-by-step checklist for the 25 October presidential and vice-presidential election. Commission chair Ina Veskova said this at the regular media briefing at the BTA National Press Club in Haskovo. The checklist follows guidelines from the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Veskova said the document will make work easier for the polling station commissions and for the regional commission, known as RIK-29. It covers every stage of voting and what to do if a problem arises, from opening a polling station to processing the results and handing the protocols to the regional commission. Commission members who have completed training already know it.
Haskovo region has 225,070 voters, 464 regular and 7 mobile polling stations, and 3,750 polling station commission members. They are in charge of running the vote.
Two voting machines will be used in 59 polling stations and one in 291. In 121 stations, people will vote only with a paper ballot in the booth. The company Information Services will have 18 teams at work.
So far, commission members have been replaced 76 times. Veskova said this is not a lot compared with earlier elections.
The deadline to set up extra polling stations in hospitals and social care homes has not yet passed. A few more mobile stations will probably be opened.
