Two retired MiG-29 jets are going to Ukraine, and Poland will get drones in return, deputy prime minister and defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said. Some of Poland's remaining MiG-29s may be sold, and Bulgaria has shown interest in them.
Kosiniak-Kamysz spoke today in Mirosławiec, at the 12th Base of Unmanned Aerial Systems of the Polish Armed Forces. The two fighters are already out of service. He said they are at the end of their service life and the Polish army can no longer use them.
Bulgaria's interest in the MiG-29 was a main topic at talks in Warsaw in September with Bulgaria's prime minister and defence minister. Rumen Radev said then, as BTA reported, that Bulgaria can keep these jets flying only with Polish help, and that this help keeps its air force combat-ready.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said Ukraine has more experience with drones than any other country "on the good side", and Poland can draw on it.
