Bulgaria's parliament voted today to suspend regular sittings of the National Assembly and its committees from 21 to 30 October 2026 inclusive.
Petar Vitanov of Progressive Bulgaria and a group of MPs tabled the draft decision. Parliament speaker Mihaela Dotsova proposed adding the item to the agenda after party leaders discussed it at the Conference of Chairs.
In all, 132 MPs voted in favour: those from Progressive Bulgaria, Democratic Bulgaria and three from the DPS. Twenty-one MPs from GERB-SDS voted against, and one from the DPS abstained.
We Continue the Change and Revival did not take part in the vote.
