The Parliamentary Committee on Direct Citizen Participation and Interaction with Civil Society has included the National Association "March for the Family" among the candidates for the committee's Public Council. The decision passed with 13 votes in favor and none against or abstaining.

The reason the organization's documents failed to reach lawmakers on time was purely technical, explained committee chairman Dr. Alexander Simidchiev. The association had sent all the paperwork by email on July 23, one day before the application deadline of July 24. However, the message never reached its recipients, instead getting stuck on parliament's server.

According to Simidchiev, the problem stems from the National Assembly's cybersecurity systems. The domain from which the organization sent the documents had been registered just a day earlier, and the institution's rules automatically block any email coming from a domain with less than 14 days of history. As a result, the email containing "March for the Family"'s documents was "quarantined" on the central server, with no notification sent to either party — neither the sender nor the committee realized the email even existed.

The committee only found out what had happened later. Simidchiev therefore submitted a motion to the Speaker of the National Assembly, requesting that in future cases of this kind, at least one party — either the sender or the recipient — be notified whenever the system blocks a message.

Since "March for the Family" meets the participation requirements, Simidchiev proposed to his colleagues that the committee vote, as an exception, to include the association on the list of candidates. The proposal was approved unanimously.

The Public Council itself is set to be formed from a total of 95 civic organizations that have expressed interest in taking part. Representatives of these organizations have already held their first meeting with committee members — this was announced on September 15 by the National Assembly's press office.
