Nadezhda hospital is offering free reproductive health check-ups to people aged 18 to 28 as part of its "Come and Talk About the Weather" campaign. Booking is required in advance on 02 441 79 70 or 0882 193 970, every day from 8am to 8pm.
Women will be seen by reproductive specialists and men by urologists who specialise in male reproductive health (andrologists). People who have not seen a specialist in the relevant field at the hospital in the past 12 months get priority when booking. The hospital has not announced specific dates for the check-ups.
The consultation is free, but extra tests are not included if doctors recommend them. If a check-up shows signs of a reproductive problem, taking part in the campaign does not automatically entitle patients to follow-up care or IVF treatment with the hospital's specialists. They must book a separate consultation in the usual way, and the usual waiting times apply, depending on the queue of patients already booked.
The hospital says young people need to understand that reproductive health is part of general health, and that caring for it does not start with the first attempt to get pregnant. Nadezhda also says fertility is not only a women's issue, and that both sexes should know the factors that affect reproductive function.
In September, specialists and representatives of patient, youth and student groups discussed awareness of reproductive health and timely care. The hospital will post advice from its leading specialists on its online channels.
