Bulgaria's average insurance income hit 1,015.10 euros in July, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) says. Over the 12 months from 1 August 2025 to 31 July this year, the average insurance income came to 1,000.93 euros.
That figure will be the base used to work out new pensions granted in August 2026, the institute says.
BTA notes that, according to NSSI data, pension spending had passed 8.8 billion euros by August 2026. That's up 781.1 million euros, or 9.7%, from August 2025.
Bulgaria had 2,067,988 pensioners as of August 2026 — 10,036 more than in August 2025, a rise of 0.5%. The average pension per person stood at 557.60 euros in August 2026.
