Regional development minister Ivan Shishkov is visiting Haskovo and Kardzhali today as part of his ministry's "The regions speak" campaign, which aims to see water supply and infrastructure problems first-hand, the regional development ministry said.
From 10:00, Shishkov will meet regional governor Todor Ivanov and local mayors at the regional administration building in Haskovo. A media briefing follows at around 11:30.
While in Haskovo, Shishkov will also check progress on a project to close infrastructure gaps between towns in the south-central region, covering Haskovo, Harmanli and Svilengrad. The project includes a full renovation of the Atanas Sharenkov art gallery in Haskovo, with conservation work on the building and landscaping of its courtyard. Plans for the gallery include restoring and adapting the building to fit the city's cultural calendar.
In Kardzhali, Shishkov will meet regional governor Bisser Nikolov and local mayors at 14:30 at the regional administration. Interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev will also attend, and a media briefing is set for around 16:00.
Venelin Shakov, executive director of Bulgarian Water Supply and Sewerage Holding, is also taking part in the meetings.
Shishkov announced the campaign in the first half of last month, after a cabinet meeting.
Under the same campaign, the minister visited Varna, Dobrich, Shumen and Pleven on 17 and 18 August, was in Varna again on 21 August, and visited Ruse and Pleven on 31 August and 1 September.
