MP Slavi Vasilev, from the "Progressive Bulgaria" group, now faces a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Commission. "We Continue the Change" filed the complaint, saying he failed to declare a private interest, the party's press office said. The complaint, filed under the Anti-Corruption Act, asks for a check into a possible conflict of interest involving someone who holds a senior public post.
On September 23, MPs scrapped a ban they had voted in on October 31, 2025, which had blocked exports and EU deliveries of oil products, mainly diesel and jet fuel. The government proposed lifting the ban, and the ruling majority backed it: 121 MPs voted for, 42 against, 23 abstained.
Vasilev spoke in the debate for lifting the ban, arguing it would help fuel traders, and voted for it.
Records from the Commercial Register and the register of non-profit legal entities show he owns all the capital of "East Petroleum" EOOD and runs the company. The firm was set up on January 31, 2025, and trades in oil and oil products wholesale and retail, including exports.
"We Continue the Change" points out that Article 145 of parliament's rules of procedure carries the force of law. It requires any MP with a private interest in a matter to declare it — when introducing a bill, when speaking, and when voting, whether in the chamber or in committee. The party wants Vasilev to explain why he didn't do this while arguing for lifting the export ban on oil products.
The party says lifting the ban will push up the price of diesel, and likely other fuels too.
