Ten fire crews are battling a blaze near the village of Zornitsa, in the Haskovo region, where broadleaf forest, dry grass and bushes are on fire, the regional fire safety and civil protection directorate in Haskovo says.
Wind is hampering firefighters and the fire is spreading. Nearby villages are not at risk for now, the directorate says.
The Road Infrastructure Agency has posted a temporary traffic restriction on its website for the road between Zornitsa and the border village of Beli Plast, in the Kardzhali region. Drivers heading both ways are being sent on a detour through Zornitsa, Nikolovo, Chernoochene, Tri Mogili and Beli Plast.
The last major fire in the area broke out on 17 September, near the village of Knyazhevo, in Topolovgrad municipality.
The directorate's monthly report, published on the website of the regional police directorate (ODMVR) in Haskovo, shows firefighters put out 175 fires in the region in August.
