Delyan Peevski says he will quit as leader of the MRF party if 36 invoices for his flights, allegedly paid by the company Spectrum, turn out to be real. He told reporters in parliament that if the invoices don't exist, prime minister Rumen Radev should resign or fire interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.
Peevski called for the documents to be made public that same day and for Demerdzhiev to be summoned to parliament to explain.
"36 invoices for 36 of my flights, paid by that company — that's impossible," Peevski said. He said he and his family paid for the flights themselves, adding that he owes no one proof of anything.
"I see Rumen Radev has lied again," Peevski said, adding that it must now be made clear who is lying — Demerdzhiev, or now the prime minister too.
Radev answered the claim later the same day during question time in parliament. He said the documents came from the Maltese authorities and that the 36 flights were worth 5 million euros in total.
