Pension expenditures as of August 2026 have exceeded 8.8 billion euro, according to the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) regarding the implementation of the State Social Security (SSS) budget. This amount represents 65.2 percent of the annual budget and is 781.1 million euro, or 9.7 percent, higher than during the same period in 2025.

As of August 2026, there are 2,067,988 pensioners. This is an increase of 10,036 people, or 0.5 percent, compared to August 2025.

The average monthly pension per person for August 2026 reached 557.60 euro. Compared to the same month last year, this represents an increase of 39.31 euro, or 7.6 percent.

As of August 2026, revenues for the consolidated SSS budget amounted to 5,488.8 million euro, representing 64.4 percent of the annual plan. Compared to the first eight months of 2025, revenues have increased by 476.0 million euro, or 9.5 percent.

Expenditures for the same period totaled 9,912.2 million euro, accounting for 64.9 percent of the annual plan. This is an increase of 857.7 million euro, or 9.5 percent, compared to the previous year.

A total of 1,038.7 million euro, or 62.8 percent of the annual plan, has been allocated for cash benefits and assistance under the Social Insurance Code as of August 2026. Reported expenditures are 76.0 million euro (7.9 percent) higher than in the first eight months of the previous year.

The net amount of transfers under the consolidated SSS budget as of August 2026 is 4,414.3 million euro.

The Teachers' Pension Fund has collected a total of 54.4 million euro in revenue as of August 2026, which is 66.4 percent of the annual plan. Revenues have grown by 5.4 million euro compared to the same period in 2025. Expenditures from the fund's budget amount to 46.1 million euro, which is 6.6 million euro more than last year.

Revenues for the "Guaranteed Claims of Workers and Employees" Fund as of August 2026 totaled 1,685.5 thousand euro, representing 85.6 percent of the annual plan. This is 267.6 thousand euro more than during the same period in 2025.

Expenditures for this fund as of August 2026 totaled 829.6 thousand euro, accounting for 33.4 percent of the annual plan. This is 245.2 thousand euro less compared to the same period in 2025.

As of July 2026, expenditures for pensions and benefits from the SSS were nearly 8.6 billion euro.
