Organised crime police have found more than 200 kg of marijuana and cocaine in two trucks carrying meat in Lovech. Senior commissioner Andrey Angelov, deputy director of the Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (GDBOP), told a briefing.
The first truck held 204 packages of a substance that tested positive for cannabis, each weighing more than 1 kg. In the second truck, officers checked only one pallet. They took 7 packages from it with a substance that tested positive for cocaine.
Angelov called the operation another blow by GDBOP against drug trafficking and drug dealing in Bulgaria. He added that large amounts of drugs were also seized this week.
The second truck holds many more pallets that have not been checked, and they may contain more drugs, Angelov said.
A pre-trial investigation is under way. Angelov said that for this reason he could not say where the trucks came from.
