Police in the Haskovo region seized untaxed cigarettes and leaf matter smelling of tobacco and of marijuana in three separate checks, the Haskovo regional police directorate said in its bulletin for 2 October 2026.

At the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing, officers found 10,800 cigarettes with no excise stamps. A search of a home in Dimitrovgrad turned up 2.5 kg of brown leaf matter that smelled of tobacco.

In Harmanli, police detained a 30-year-old man carrying 4 grams of dry green leaf matter that smelled of marijuana.
