The education ministry will publish its 2026 university rankings at 10:00 tomorrow, 8 October, its press office said. The new edition covers 51 accredited universities in 52 fields of study.

Education and science minister Prof. Georgi Valchev will attend the presentation.

The ranking scores universities on teaching, research, campus environment, social conditions, access to education, prestige and regional importance. It also looks at how well graduates do in the job market. The ministry says the system should help applicants make an informed choice and find their way among the study options at Bulgarian universities.

In the 2025 data, graduates in military studies and computer science have the highest average taxable income, at more than €2,403 (4,700 leva). They are followed by national security, communication and computer engineering, mathematics, metallurgy, public health, mineral exploration and mining, energy, medicine, and electrical engineering, electronics and automation. Incomes in these fields range from €1,687 to €1,943 (3,300 to 3,800 leva).

Among individual universities, master's graduates in administration and management at the American University earn the most, with an average taxable income of €5,168 (10,108 leva). Computer science at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" is second at €4,381 (8,568 leva). The same subject at New Bulgarian University is third at €4,049 (7,919 leva). For bachelor's degrees, computer science at Sofia University leads with €3,634 (7,107 leva).

Sofia University had the most active students in 2025, with 19,799. The University of National and World Economy follows with 17,092, and Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski" has 16,285.
