Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" has made the Times Higher Education world rankings for 2027 again, placing in the 1601-1800 group, the university's press office said today. It is the university's latest appearance on the list, after featuring in previous years too.

The rankings looked at data from 3,146 universities, and 2,297 from 118 countries made the final list. Each university is scored on 17 measures, grouped into five categories.

Sofia University says the Times Higher Education rankings are the only ones of their kind in the world, measuring universities with strong academic work across all their main jobs: teaching, research, sharing knowledge and drawing in international talent. Times Higher Education says its 17 measures give the fullest and most balanced comparison available.

The five categories are teaching and learning environment; research environment, measured by volume, income and reputation; research quality, covering citations, strength, top-level work and impact; international outlook for staff, students and researchers; and industry, covering income and patents.
