Organised crime police (GDBOP) detained three men in two raids in Yambol and Haskovo regions and seized about 15 kg of cannabis, the directorate said.
The raids targeted drug production and dealing. On 5 November, officers searched a property in the village of Chelnik in Yambol region and detained two men. Packs of cannabis of various kinds, nearly 3 kg in all, were hidden in a beehive in the yard.
The other raid was in the village of Smirnentsi, in Harmanli municipality, Haskovo region. Police detained the 46-year-old man who runs the property. In a farm building there, they found eight packs holding about 12 kg of cannabis.
Pre-trial proceedings have been opened in both cases. The district prosecutor's office in Yambol and the regional prosecutor's office in Haskovo are overseeing them.
At the end of September, officers at the Lesovo border checkpoint found 20 kg of cocaine and 26 kg of cannabis in a hiding place in a lorry trying to cross into Turkey.
