By September 30, the parties and initiative committees running in the presidential race must send the National Audit Office data on the individuals and companies financing their campaigns. This was announced by the press office of the audit institution. The data must reach the National Audit Office both in paper form and electronically so that it can be entered into the Unified Register under the Electoral Code, making it accessible to everyone.

The documents must indicate who made each donation. The type and amount of the donation must be clearly stated. In addition, they must specify which candidates or members of initiative committees have contributed their own funds and how much. If a donation from an individual exceeds one minimum monthly wage, a declaration of the source of the funds is mandatory. Parties must also disclose which polling, advertising and PR agencies they are working with.

Throughout the campaign, any newly received information must reach the National Audit Office within seven days so that the register is updated on an ongoing basis.

The National Audit Office has prepared an information brochure to help parties and committees with the paperwork. It has also published on its website templates for letters, applications, declarations and reports. Election contestants are required to fill them out.

Besides the ongoing information on donors, contestants also owe a full report on campaign income and expenses. It must reach the National Audit Office by December 4, or by December 11 if the race goes to a runoff. The institution will then check whether the declared income matches the expenses incurred, provided the amounts exceed €511.29.

The law also provides for penalties in case of non-compliance. If a representative of a party or initiative committee fails to submit information for the register on time, the fine ranges from €1,533.88 to €5,112.92. The penalty is between €1,533.88 and €7,669.38 for breaching the limits on total funding. The same applies to violations of related restrictions. A penalty also applies if payments exceeding €511.29 are not made through a bank. The fine is between €511.29 and €1,533.88 if the source of donated funds exceeding one minimum wage is not disclosed. For a repeat violation, the amount rises to between €1,533.88 and €5,112.92.

Today at 3:00 p.m., the Central Election Commission will hold a drawing to determine the ballot numbers of the candidates for president and vice president.
