Democratic Bulgaria (DB) wants an emergency session of parliament on Thursday, 22 October, over the arson of Starlink antennas near the village of Plana, the party's press office said. Signatures to call the session will be collected tomorrow.
DB wants prime minister Rumen Radev, interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and State Agency for National Security (DANS) chief Plamen Tonchev to appear before MPs. The session would focus on how the authorities acted over the deliberate arson of the antennas.
DB says that at a hearing in the National Assembly on 14 October, Radev called on the DANS chief not to give details, so as not to harm the investigation. He also assured the hearing that the situation was under control, the party says.
"It then became clear that the suspects had left the country," DB wrote. The party says MPs must immediately be given a timeline of what the authorities did, any failings, and who is responsible for them.
DB will also press for information on how the accused are being identified and tracked down.
MPs will also meet tomorrow for another emergency session. Asen Vasilev of We Continue the Change and a group of MPs requested it, and it concerns the case of Ognyan Atanasov, known as the "Petrich Escobar".
