The Central Election Commission (CEC) is holding a demonstration of machine voting today at the NDK metro station in Sofia, ahead of the presidential and vice-presidential election, the commission said. After 12:00 anyone can try it, and CEC staff are on hand to give information.

CEC spokeswoman Stoyanka Balova said machines no longer print a full ballot with all the candidates. They print only a control receipt, which lets voters check their choice.

The demo software allows a test vote that does not count. The event is part of an information campaign. The CEC wants voters to feel better informed and more confident when they cast their ballot. It urges people to try machine voting in advance so they are better prepared for the presidential election.

The campaign began on 8 October 2026 at Serdika metro station, where a machine ran the demo software. Anyone could cast a test vote and learn the steps. Balova and CEC experts helped, explained how to use the device and answered questions about machine voting and the election process.

Balova also showed a demo of machine voting on 7 October, at the commission's regular briefing on the presidential election.
