The Sofia Commodity Exchange (SCE) carried out a series of sales of scrap metal, fuels, foodstuffs, and cereals this week. Ferrous metal prices ranged between 81.81 and 107.37 EUR per ton, while aluminum scrap was traded at 409.03 EUR per ton, and brass at 2,556.46 EUR per ton. The fuel market also saw activity, with trades for B6 diesel at 1,566.67 EUR per thousand liters and A95H gasoline at 1,358.33 EUR per thousand liters. Additionally, diesel for heating was sold in a price range of 1,542.63 to 1,603.44 EUR per thousand liters, off-road diesel at 1,580 EUR per thousand liters, and propane-butane gas at 550 EUR per thousand liters.

Key foodstuffs are showing stable trends, with various types of canned goods offered at slightly lower initial levels. In this segment, green peas are trading between 2.23 and 2.37 EUR per kilogram, sweet corn is offered in the range of 1.65 – 3.19 EUR per kilogram, and peeled diced tomatoes are priced between 2.28 and 2.39 EUR per kilogram. There is also supply available for seeds and nuts, with prices varying from 1,278.23 to 7,362.60 EUR per ton.

In their weekly analysis, SCE experts report contrasting movements among major cereals: a sharp decline in wheat prices and a consolidation of corn positions. Wheat saw a significant drop to 267 dollars per ton on the Chicago exchange and 278 dollars per ton on Euronext. This correction is a result of markets calming down regarding potential future supply disruptions in the Black Sea, which led to the removal of a large portion of the war risk premium. On the other hand, corn shows stability, with futures for delivery next month trading between 208 and 209 dollars per ton on the Chicago Board of Trade and between 301 and 303 dollars per ton on Euronext.

At the end of the week, sugar showed a downward trend after previously spending the period in a narrow, almost directionless range. Specifically in London, white sugar fell from 524 to 508 dollars per ton, while in New York, raw sugar dropped from 395 to 384 dollars per ton.

At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, mid-September offers for feed wheat remain at 192 EUR per ton, while bread wheat sales are fixed at 230 EUR per ton. These indicators follow trades from the final days of August, during which feed wheat was traded at 180 EUR per ton, feed barley at 170 EUR per ton, and oats at 150 EUR per ton.
