GERB leader Boyko Borisov has met David Harris, the former head of the American Jewish Committee, Borisov said in a Facebook post.

Harris led the committee from 1990 to 2022. He is in Bulgaria to present his book "Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know".

Borisov wrote that the fight against antisemitism, the defence of democratic values and the strategic partnership with the United States and Israel are a consistent commitment of ours. He said the book is a reminder of how important it is to defend historical truth and not let hatred divide societies.

Borisov called Harris his friend and a consistent voice against antisemitism and hate speech.

"Bulgaria has something to be proud of – the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War is an example of courage and humanity," Borisov also said.
