"BMF Port Burgas" AD hosted a delegation of representatives from the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) association for a working meeting dedicated to the development of the Middle Corridor. Participants included representatives from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Poland, and Bulgaria.

The port operator, concessionaire of the "Burgas East-2" and "Burgas West" terminals, has been a member of the association since June 2023 and is the only port member of TITR on the European coast of the Black Sea. The company is already handling real cargo flows along the rail corridor between China and Europe, with transport from Xi'an (the administrative center of Shaanxi province in Central China) taking approximately 20 days, after which goods continue via the European rail network.

During the discussions, the company's CEO Boris Balev emphasized the need for partnership, coordination, and practical exchange between the institutions, logistics operators, maritime carriers, rail companies, and ports involved in the route. During a visit to the "BMF Port Burgas" terminals, TITR representatives were introduced to the operational capabilities, key facilities, infrastructure, and ongoing development projects at the site.

The new European focus on the Middle Corridor offers "BMF Port Burgas" AD an opportunity to build upon the foundation already laid through its participation in TITR. For Bulgaria, the planned regional connectivity summit, which will be organized jointly with the country's Prime Minister, is also a significant signal.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has placed the Middle Corridor among the EU's key connectivity initiatives. In her annual State of the Union address, she presented a new European project to directly link Central Asia and the South Caucasus to the European market via this route. Through the "Global Gateway" initiative, the European Union plans to mobilize up to 12 billion euros in public and private investment. These funds are aimed at achieving goals by 2030, which include tripling trade flows, diversifying transport routes, and reducing freight transit times.
