The government is allocating an additional €1,800,000 from the Ministry of Health's 2026 budget to cover higher fuel prices for emergency medical service centers. The announcement was made by the government information service.
The funds will reach the services through a Council of Ministers decree. They will be used to fuel the specialized vehicles that transport patients and to cover travel costs for national consultants called in for emergency cases. The funding also covers the transport of donors, organs, blood, blood components, and medical equipment.
Days earlier, the government announced a much larger package of measures to address high fuel prices, worth more than €300 million.
