The government is allocating €2,971,119 to municipalities to cover the higher costs of free transportation for children and students, the cabinet's press office announced. The funds will offset the rise in fuel prices.
With this money, municipalities will provide daily transport for children from settlements without a kindergarten or school to the nearest town or village where they can study.
The amount is earmarked for the period from September 15 to December 31, 2026, and will be included in the municipalities' budgets.
In addition, more than 550,000 people will receive a one-time payment of €50 to compensate for consumption costs resulting from higher fuel prices.
