The government is allocating an additional €920,300 under the 2026 budget of the Ministry of Health to increase the subsidy for the Bulgarian Red Cross. This was announced by the government information service.
Of that sum, €154,300 is earmarked specifically for the Bulgarian Red Cross's Mountain Rescue Service.
The higher subsidy will allow the organization to continue its humanitarian work in 2026 and in the years ahead, the government explained. The assistance is aimed at vulnerable Bulgarian citizens and at people who have been granted humanitarian protection.
The Bulgarian Red Cross's activities were also discussed at the end of May, when the regular session of the organization's 68th General Assembly was held. At the time, Bulgarian Red Cross chairman Hristo Grigorov said that in 2025 close to half a million people had received assistance from the Red Cross.
