DPS leader Delyan Peevski said in Belitsa that his party will back protests if they help people and oppose the return of State Security (DS).

He said DPS is not behind last night's protests and he does not know why they were blamed on it.

"I say 'No to fear'. We will be here, we will be with Radi, we will be with everyone the new DS persecutes," Peevski told BTA. He said DPS will make sure DS is not allowed to return.

Peevski called the police presence in Belitsa "unheard of", saying there are gendarmes and police cars in the town. He said he has never seen Little Radi act like a terrorist or spread that kind of fear. He believes the people in power are worried that DPS will come.

Peevski called Plamen Tonchev, head of the State Agency for National Security (DANS), a servant of Rumen Radev. He said Tonchev clearly was one before too, but hid it. DPS backed him for DANS chair, and Peevski apologised to everyone for that.

He said he does not know what role DANS plays in the raids, because in his view the agency has no powers to investigate. "DANS is State Security, colleagues," Peevski said.

He said DS is being rebuilt and everyone, whatever their party, must stop it together. Party differences should not open the way to repression, because it will hit everyone.

Asked whether he expects checks in other municipalities too, Peevski said he expects them everywhere that people do not give in to pressure from Rumen Radev and "Progressive Bulgaria".
