The municipal council in Dimitrovgrad will vote on a budget of 48.497 million euros for 2026. The agenda has 22 items, and the papers for the session are already posted on the municipality's website.
According to the report submitted to the council, the budget was 51% spent by the middle of this year. Revenue for activities delegated by the state came to 30.196 million euros, while revenue for local activities stood at 18.301 million euros. 4.836 million euros were set aside for capital spending.
Councillors will also check how the 2025 budget turned out. It started at 85.069 million levs but grew to 97.972 million levs after several updates.
Council chair Gergana Krasteva will report on the council's work over the first six months of this year. At the six regular meetings held during that time, councillors looked at 129 motions and made 152 decisions, the document says.
Councillor Stefan Dimitrov has submitted a motion calling for Bulgaria's energy independence to be protected. It asks for Mini Maritsa-iztok EAD and the Maritsa Iztok 2 power plant to stay within the Bulgarian Energy Holding, and for Bulgaria to take an active stand at national level on the reform of the EU's emissions trading system, EU ETS. Councillors will vote on the wording of the motion.
Councillors are also due to decide whether to grant a concession for several dams that are publicly owned by the municipality.
