The Speaker of the National Assembly, Mihaela Dotova, will participate in the ceremonial commemoration of the 118th anniversary of the declaration of Bulgaria's independence. The event will take place in Veliko Tarnovo, according to the institution's press center.
Dotova's program begins with a festive liturgy at the "St. Forty Martyrs" church, which will be officiated by Bishop Matey of Nikopol. A historical reenactment of the events of September 22, 1908, when Prince Ferdinand declared the country's independence at the same location, is planned in the temple courtyard. The Speaker of Parliament will lay flowers at the Independence memorial plaque.
At 10:30, Mihaela Dotova will observe the military ritual for raising the national flag at the "Tsarevets" Architectural and Museum Reserve, where she will deliver a speech on the occasion of the anniversary. Following this, she will lay flowers at the Pyramid of Independence.
Dotova will also take part in the festive parade, which will conclude with the laying of flower garlands at the "Mother Bulgaria" monument.
In the evening, at 19:30, the Speaker of the National Assembly will receive the report from the commander of the ceremonial parade at "Tsar Asen I" Square. On this occasion, she will again deliver a speech related to the anniversary of the declaration of Bulgaria's independence.
