Burgas will host the "Eurovision 2027" song contest, announced Milena Milotinova, Director General of Bulgarian National Television (mediite), during the program "The Day Begins" on mediite. According to Milotinova, the goal is to organize a wonderful hosting event that showcases Bulgaria's talent, natural beauty, and the country's hospitality.
The Director General emphasized that Bulgaria must prove its ability to organize such a major event, as the country has never hosted a contest of this scale before. She added that through "Eurovision 2027," Bulgaria can showcase its talents, innovative business, natural landmarks, and rich history, weaving all of these elements into the project.
Milotinova pointed out that the opportunities for the country are immense and the impact of hosting will be felt for years to come. She emphasized Bulgaria's image and brand, which the executive branch is also striving to develop, mentioning a meeting related to the contest preparations.
Regarding the international audience, Milotinova noted that "Eurovision 2026" was watched by 131 million viewers worldwide. In 2027, the viewership could be even higher, as Canada will also be participating in the contest. However, the Director General explained that the process is dynamic and closely tied to the participating countries, so the final number of participants will only be known months later.
"Eurovision 2027" will not be an event limited to just a single day, as it will include many accompanying events. Although this is a grand project requiring significant effort, Milena Milotinova assured that Bulgaria possesses the necessary potential to organize it successfully.
On September 6, Minister of Culture Evtim Miloshev stated in the program "Why?" on mediite that preparations for hosting "Eurovision 2027" are progressing exceptionally well.
