The government has approved extra spending of €11.4m in the Council of Ministers' 2026 budget, the cabinet's press office said. The money is split across six decisions.

Part of it will pay for emergency repairs to a groyne in the Asparuhovo district of Varna, in the Chernomorets area. The money also goes to maintenance and repair of sea defences run by the regional administration. It is linked to decision No. 104 of 2026, which approved funding for the Financial Supervision Commission, the Constitutional Court and the Council of Ministers, as well as transfers to municipalities.

In Vidin, the frescoes in the cathedral of St Demetrius of Thessaloniki will be restored and preserved. Work will continue on the road from the port to the monastery of St George the Zograf on Mount Athos. For the Protection of the Virgin church in the Kremikovtsi Monastery in Sofia Municipality, the money covers restoration, repairs with new building systems, new frescoes and new church furnishings.

Money has also been approved to buy a church with an adjoining building for the Bulgarian Orthodox community in Leipzig, in the German state of Saxony. Another sum is set aside to buy a property that the state will hand over free of charge to the State Archives Agency.

In a separate decision, the government gave a further €270,540 to the State Agency "Technical Operations". The money covers commitments under a signed contract for a major overhaul of a complex of buildings.
