Inspectors from the Regional Food Safety Directorate – Pazardzhik will issue 6 reports for administrative violations and have already issued 5 orders to establishments following inspections conducted on September 18, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced.
During inspections of hotels with restaurants and catering establishments in the Tsigov Chark resort, 292 kg of unfit-for-consumption food was seized and marked for destruction. The inspections revealed hygiene violations at the sites, a lack of required documentation, and a lack of regularly validated personal health booklets. Additionally, expired products and goods lacking the necessary documents or information regarding their origin were discovered.
The BFSA maintains intensified official oversight of food establishments, especially during peak tourist seasons, to ensure food safety and protect the interests and health of consumers. The Agency urges citizens who have suspicions of irregularities to report them via their hotline: 0700 122 99.
Media reports recall that in early September, the BFSA directed over 550 kg of products for destruction following inspections of enterprises in the Varna region.
