The share of electricity generated by wind farms in Europe reached 26.8 percent in recent months, according to data from today's WindEurope Power Numbers platform bulletin.

Onshore wind turbines provided 22.2 percent of the total electricity, equivalent to 1421 gigawatt-hours. Offshore wind farms contributed 4.6 percent, or 292 gigawatt-hours, to the total volume.

The following European countries stood out for having the highest share of wind energy in their total electricity mix over the last 24 hours:

  • Denmark (9 percent);
  • Lithuania (73.1 percent);
  • Germany (64.8 percent).

In Bulgaria, the share of wind energy is 0.2 percent.

According to the report, the following leaders provided the largest quantities of wind-generated electricity:

  • Germany (708.2 gigawatt-hours);
  • Sweden (135.6 gigawatt-hours);
  • Netherlands (115.2 gigawatt-hours).

In Bulgaria, 0.3 gigawatt-hours were produced from wind sources.
