The University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) holds a national forum on artificial intelligence in urban planning, construction and infrastructure today, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the "Aula Maxima" hall, the university says. BTA is a media partner for the event.
The forum, called "Building with artificial intelligence: from campus to smart city", looks at how to regulate these technologies and use them responsibly. Officials, local government representatives, EU institutions, business leaders and universities are due to take part.
President Rumen Radev's deputy, Iliana Yotova, opens the event with a welcome address. Speakers in the first of two panels include deputy regional development minister Pavleta Pelovska, Sofia mayor Vasil Terziev, Tomislav Donchev, who chairs parliament's committee on innovation and digital transformation, MEP Kristian Vigenin, Milena Angelova, executive deputy chair of the Bulgarian Industrial Association, and Georgi Randelov, business development director at the GATE Institute.
This panel covers research, smart cities, infrastructure and resource management, as well as the role of government and EU rules.
The second panel brings together lecturers and researchers from UACEG. Architect professor Stoyanka Ivanova, engineer professor Temenuzhka Bandrova, professor Angel Apostolov and engineer associate professor Ivaylo Ivanov present projects and practical solutions for architecture, construction and geodesy, and discuss how new technology is changing education.
A humanoid robot called RaiON greets guests.
Organizers say the goal is to get institutions, the university and businesses talking on a topic that matters more and more for society, the economy and the country's development.
The forum kicks off a series of events marking UACEG's 85th anniversary.
