Former police officer Simona Radeva has requested the Sofia Court of Appeals to reduce her sentence, convert it to a suspended sentence, and stay the execution of her prison term. The defense is also calling for the case against her to be reopened and remanded for a new trial.

„I have a small child who needs me,“ Radeva attempted to convince the court, echoing her defense's plea. Her lawyers, Ivaylo Naydenov and Mario Naydenov, argue that the verdict is based on assumptions and that procedural violations occurred during the trial. The prosecution holds the opposing view, dismissing the request for a retrial as unfounded.

Simona Radeva was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for concealing Georgi Semerdzhiev. The incident occurred following the fatal crash that claimed two lives on July 5, 2022.
