Environment minister Rositsa Karamfilova has cancelled an order by her predecessor Manol Genov that would have removed nearly 12 decares (1.2 hectares) from the Blue Stones nature park. She told parliament's environment committee about the decision.

The minister said the cancellation is based on the Administrative Procedure Code. A check found that the area figures in the old order had changed. Karamfilova added that officials had reviewed the whole situation and that the original circumstances also contained inconsistencies.

The Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation announced the cancellation on Facebook a few days ago. It says the decision came after more than a year of protests, alerts and opinions.
