Bulgaria's main trade union, KNSB, rejects the government's proposed minimum wage of €660 for 2027 and will hold a protest car convoy in Sofia tomorrow, KNSB president Plamen Dimitrov told reporters.
The convoy starts at 12:00 in front of parliament. About 3,000 people in more than 700 vehicles will take part.
The draft government decree setting the minimum wage at €660 has been published for public consultation. Dimitrov said the government is piling up negative reactions with it. The union asked for €690, the figure under the old formula in the Labour Code, back in talks with deputy prime minister and finance minister Galab Donev.
KNSB also opposes the pay rises in the budget: 5% for public sector workers and 7.5% for teachers. The union will push for 10% in the public sector. With inflation at its current level, workers will struggle to feel the benefit of these rises, Dimitrov said.
Donev is expected to meet KNSB tomorrow morning.
