The government has approved a draft agreement with Turkey to open a new border crossing, "Kapitan Andreevo-Kapıkule-North", the government press office said. See our earlier report: Cabinet considers agreement with Turkey on new border crossing near Kapitan Andreevo.

Earlier reports said the cabinet was only considering the agreement. The press office now says the draft has been approved and will be the basis for talks with Turkey.

The agreement deals with border crossings and provides for a new crossing on the border between the two countries. A joint commission will study it and set its technical features, location and operating hours.

The cabinet meeting began at 13:00. The agenda also included a draft decree on extra spending in the Council of Ministers' 2026 budget, a draft decision on state investment loans and guarantees for 2027, and the opening of a Bulgarian embassy in Muscat, Oman.

Ministers also looked at extra transfers to municipal budgets for 2026 to pay for transport of Ukrainian children and students with temporary protection. The children will be driven from where they live to school from 15 September 2026 to 30 June 2027.
