Deputy prime minister and finance minister Galab Donev will attend meetings of the Eurogroup and the EU's Ecofin council in Luxembourg on 8 and 9 October, the finance ministry said.

Ireland, which holds the Ecofin presidency, wants ministers to agree a common approach on the market integration and supervision package, a step towards the EU's Savings and Investments Union.

The Eurogroup will discuss trends in currency exchange rates and the annual review of progress on the Capital Markets Union. Ministers will also talk about how efficiently public money is spent, and how energy markets affect the eurozone economy.

Ecofin will look at a report on the competitiveness of the EU's banking sector. Ministers will get the latest data on the economic and financial effects of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. They will also hear how the Recovery and Resilience Facility is going.

The meeting will review the lessons of the 2026 European Semester. It will also look at the Czech Republic's national medium-term fiscal-structural plan for 2027–2030, which needs approval. The council will adopt conclusions on funding the fight against climate change, linked to the UN climate conference in Antalya, Turkey, from 9 to 20 November 2026.

The last informal Ecofin meeting took place last month in Dublin, Ireland, and Donev also took part. It focused on the future of financial innovation in Europe.
