One person died and 28 were injured in 26 road accidents across Bulgaria in the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said on its website.

In Sofia, police recorded six serious and 30 minor crashes over the same period. One person died and five were hurt, one of them in a life-threatening condition.

Since the start of the month, there have been 135 crashes in Bulgaria. They have killed 11 people and injured 154.

Since the start of the year, there have been 5,299 road accidents, with 380 people killed and 6,554 injured. On actual figures for the same period, 47 more people have died than last year.
