President Iliana Iotova has dismissed Ivan Yordanov as Bulgaria's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. The decree is dated 13 October 2026 and was published today in the State Gazette.
The foreign minister is to carry it out.
Interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said earlier that Yordanov's father owns the firm that paid for flights of DPS leader Delyan Peevski. On 18 September, prime minister Rumen Radev said he expected foreign minister Velislava Petrova to prepare Yordanov's recall as soon as possible.
A few days later, Petrova said a check into the case had been ordered. She met Yordanov at the Foreign Ministry on 23 September, and the next day she signed a draft Council of Ministers decision. The draft asks the head of state to issue a decree recalling the ambassador.
Iotova said on 30 September that she intended to sign the decree dismissing Yordanov.
